prd-to-prompt
A skill that drafts a PRD with you through conversation, saves it as markdown,
then turns it into a self-contained build prompt for a fresh coding-agent
session. Works with Claude Code, Pi,
and Opencode — all three read the same
Agent Skills
SKILL.md format.
Layout
prd-to-prompt/SKILL.md— the skill itself.prd-to-prompt/references/prd-template.md— PRD section skeleton.prd-to-prompt/references/prompt-best-practices.md— the checklist used to write the final agent prompt, sourced from Anthropic, DigitalOcean, and MIT Sloan EdTech prompt-engineering guides.
Install
# bash / git-bash / macOS / Linux
./install.sh # copy into every harness' global dir (default)
./install.sh --link # same, but symlink so it tracks this checkout
./install.sh --target claude --scope project # copy into ./.claude for just this project
# PowerShell
./install.ps1 # copy into every harness' global dir (default)
./install.ps1 -Link # same, but symlink so it tracks this checkout
./install.ps1 -Target claude -Scope project # copy into ./.claude for just this project
--target (-Target) accepts claude, pi, opencode, all, or a
comma-separated list. --scope (-Scope) is global (default, installs
under your home config so the skill is available in every project) or
project (installs under the given/current directory instead). --dir
(-Dir) overrides the project directory for project scope. --link
(-Link) symlinks the skill into place instead of copying it, so edits to
this checkout take effect immediately without reinstalling — on Windows this
needs Developer Mode or an admin shell for a true symlink; install.ps1
falls back to a directory junction automatically if that's unavailable.
Install destinations:
| Harness | Project | Global |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Code | .claude/skills/prd-to-prompt |
~/.claude/skills/prd-to-prompt |
| Pi | .agents/skills/prd-to-prompt |
~/.agents/skills/prd-to-prompt |
| Opencode | .opencode/skills/prd-to-prompt |
~/.config/opencode/skills/prd-to-prompt |
Opencode also recognizes .claude/skills and .agents/skills as
compatibility paths, so installing for Claude Code or Pi in the same project
usually makes the skill visible to Opencode there too — the dedicated
opencode target is for when you only want it in Opencode.
Use
Ask to plan/draft a PRD (or write a build prompt from an existing idea) in any of the three tools. The skill will work through the PRD with you interactively, write it to a markdown file in your project, then generate and save a build prompt derived from it — meant to be pasted into a new agent session to actually implement the project.
